In order that the Rwanda we will leave to this young generation be much better than the Rwanda our ancestors left us, this is the Credo that the Supportive Committee for a Constitutional Monarchy in Rwanda delivers to all Rwandans:

1. Rwanda is a sovereign country, respected, it belongs to all Rwandans. Rwanda is not the King and the King is not Rwanda. There are Kings who died on the battlefield fighting for their country; a King dies and another reigns. However, Rwanda stays forever. This demonstrates that Rwanda is greater than the King. The King is the son of Rwanda. The King, as for the rest of the Rwandese population, works for Rwanda. Rwanda is not the personal asset of the King; Rwanda represents a source of benefit for all Rwandans.

2. Rwanda must be a country that is based on true democracy. Rwandans must choose their leaders in peace and tranquillity and enjoy freedom in their country. Ruling the country through dictatorship is forbidden and not acceptable at all. Being “a yes man" and being led like sheep should not happen at all and we should never accept it.

3. The monarchy in Rwanda must be based on the Constitution that all Rwandans elected through free and fair democratic participation. The King of Rwanda is a King who will respect that constitution. The Rwandans love and respect him because he conciliates them and unifies them. He always brings peace among them.

4. The leadership in Rwanda should be founded or based on three independent pillars, each having equal authority and power. These pillars are the Executive, the Judiciary and the Legislative. The leadership in Rwanda is chosen by the Rwandans. It is for them and it belongs to them.

5. The King depends on every single Rwandan citizen. The King does not belong to any ethnic group, tribe, system or political party. The King is the King for all Rwandans. If the King sides with one group, this would bring divisions and a bad atmosphere in the country because the elite around him would kill and save whoever they want. The King, as the Kinyarwanda language, is a unifying factor for us all. The King is peace loving, a role model of good conduct, honesty, dynamism, patriotism and wisdom. These moral values are what must characterise us and we should inculcate them to all Rwandans.

6. Rwanda should be a country which is governed by the laws and regulations which have been elected by all Rwandans, written and known by all. All Rwandans are equal before the law.

7. In Rwanda, there should be many independent political parties so that Rwandans can join those of their choice and vote freely and fairly. Vote rigging is totally forbidden and unacceptable.

8. Rwanda must respect completely and exemplify all human rights laws based on those of the United Nations and African Union Charts. The constitution must clarify that no one must violate the rights that God has given to his people. For example, it is only God who gives life and it is only the same God who takes away life.

9. The greatest resource that Rwanda has is its citizens. What Rwanda’s leaders have to do is to help citizens to realise their potential, thereby ensuring the continuing, positive development of the Rwandan nation. Rwandans are good people, it is only bad governance which leads to their problems.

10. The King is the symbol of national unity, he must respect that and also he must be respected for that. Whoever respects the King, respects Rwanda and all Rwandans.
